Everything published on this site is general information. It is not advice, and it may be out of date.
Not legal advice
Several pages discuss the law around recording — consent requirements, recording interviews, recording meetings, copyright. That material is general background written for a worldwide audience. It is not legal advice, it is not tailored to your circumstances, and it does not create a solicitor-client or attorney-client relationship.
Recording law varies enormously between countries, and between states or provinces within them. It also changes. If a recording matters legally — evidence, employment, journalism involving confidential sources, anything regulated — take advice from a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction rather than relying on this site.
Not professional advice
Guidance on microphone technique, audio quality and file formats reflects general good practice. It is not professional audio engineering advice for your specific setup, and following it does not guarantee a particular result.
Where pages discuss recording in regulated settings — medical dictation, legal case notes, HR matters, classroom recording — that is context, not a compliance opinion. Whether this tool is appropriate for a regulated use is a judgement for you or your compliance team, and the technical documentation is written so someone qualified can assess it.
Accuracy and currency
We take reasonable care to be accurate, but make no warranty that the content is complete, current or error-free. Two areas go stale faster than the rest:
- Browser behaviour. Permission dialogs, menu locations, codec support and platform restrictions all change with browser and operating system updates. Instructions correct at the time of writing may not match what you see.
- Comparisons with other products. The comparison pages describe competing tools as we understood them when written. Those products change their features, pricing and data practices without telling us.
If you find something inaccurate, please tell us. Corrections are genuinely welcome and are more useful than compliments.
No warranty on the tool itself
The recorder is provided without warranty of any kind. In particular:
- Recording loss
- Nothing is stored anywhere. An undownloaded recording is unrecoverable
- Device limits
- Long recordings are held in memory and can fail on low-memory devices
- Browser support
- Behaviour differs between browsers and versions, and can change
- Backgrounding
- Locking a phone or backgrounding the tab ends a recording
- Availability
- We do not guarantee the site will be available at any given time
Do not rely on this tool as the only capture method for something irreplaceable. For a once-only event — a wedding speech, a deposition, a final interview with an elderly relative — run a second recorder in parallel. That is sound practice with any single recording device, not a comment on this one specifically.

Questions
Is the legal information on this site reliable?
It is accurate general background, but it is not advice and cannot account for your jurisdiction or situation. For anything consequential, consult a qualified lawyer where you are.
The instructions do not match what my browser shows.
Likely a browser update since the page was written. Please report it — that is the fastest way for us to fix it.
Can I rely on this for an important one-off recording?
Run a second recorder alongside it. That is prudent with any single device, and it matters more here because nothing is stored as backup.
Is this suitable for medical or legal dictation?
The audio never leaves your device, which is the technical fact. Whether that satisfies a specific regulatory obligation is a judgement for you or your compliance team.
Are the competitor comparisons guaranteed accurate?
No. They were accurate when written, but other products change without notice. Verify anything you are relying on directly with that product.
