Terms of use
The agreement between you and us when you use this site. It is short, because the service is simple and collects nothing.

By using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
1. What the service is
audio-recorder-voice.com provides browser-based audio recording tools. Recording, encoding and saving all happen on your own device inside your browser. We do not receive, process or store the audio you record. The technical detail is set out on how it works.
The service is provided free of charge. There is no account, no subscription and no paid tier.
2. Your responsibilities when recording
This is the most important clause in these terms, and the one most likely to matter to you.
- You are solely responsible for what you record. Because no audio reaches us, we have no ability to monitor, review or moderate it — and no wish to.
- You must have the legal right to record. Laws on recording other people vary widely. Some places require only one participant to consent; others require every participant. Some contexts — workplaces, schools, medical and legal settings — have additional rules.
- You must not use the service to record anyone unlawfully, including covert recording where that is prohibited where you or the other participants are located.
- You must respect copyright. Recording audio you do not own or have a licence to record, including music and streamed content, may infringe copyright or breach another platform's terms.
If you are unsure whether a recording is lawful, get advice before making it. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and the guidance in our articles is general information only.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any applicable law or regulation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, or any connected system.
- Interfere with or disrupt the site, including by automated overuse that degrades it for others.
- Remove, obscure or alter any copyright, trade mark or other proprietary notice.
- Represent the service as your own, or resell access to it.
4. No account, no data, no recovery
Because nothing you record is stored anywhere, recordings that are not downloaded before you close the tab are permanently lost. We cannot recover them. This is a deliberate property of the design rather than a defect, and by using the service you accept it.
5. Intellectual property
The site's design, text, code and images are owned by Audio Recorder Voice or its licensors, except where stated otherwise. You may not copy or redistribute substantial parts of the site without permission.
You own your recordings. We claim no rights whatsoever over audio you create using the service. We could not, since we never receive it.
The MP3 encoder used by the site is lamejs, distributed under the LGPL. Its licence is served alongside it at /vendor/lamejs-LICENSE.txt.
6. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with your device or browser. Browser behaviour changes, and a feature that works today may behave differently after an update.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Audio Recorder Voice will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, recordings, profit, revenue or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the service.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this clause may not apply to you. Consumers retain their statutory rights in full.
8. Third-party links
The site links to third-party websites, including competitors' sites and software projects. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where mandatory local consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

Questions
Do I own the recordings I make?
Entirely. We claim no rights over your audio and never receive it, so there is nothing for us to claim rights over.
Am I allowed to record other people with this?
Only where it is lawful where you and they are located, and that varies considerably. Some places require every participant to consent. You are responsible for knowing and following the rules that apply to you.
Can you recover a recording I lost?
No. Nothing is stored on any server, so there is no copy to recover. Download before closing the tab.
Is the service really free with no catch?
Yes. No account, no paid tier, and no advertising in the recorder. The about page explains how that is sustainable.
Can I use recordings made here commercially?
Yes. We impose no restriction on what you do with your own audio. Whether a specific recording can be used commercially depends on its content and who is in it, not on these terms.
