Privacy policy

Your audio

Recording, encoding and downloading all happen inside your browser. There is no upload step, no server-side processing and no storage. We could not produce a copy of your recording if asked, because one never reaches us.

This is architecture rather than policy. A policy can change; the absence of an upload path cannot change without a visible code change you can inspect.

Verify it yourself

1. Open your browser's developer tools — F12, or Command+Option+I on a Mac.
2. Select the Network tab.
3. Record something and press Stop.
4. Watch the request list. No outbound request carrying audio appears, because none is made.

Do this to any recorder you use. Thirty seconds of checking beats any assurance on a page, including this one.

What we do not do

• We do not upload, store, process or transmit your recordings.
• We do not require an account, an email address or any personal detail.
• We do not use browser storage to retain recordings between visits.
• We do not sell data. There is no data about you to sell.
• We do not show advertising in the recorder.

What we do, honestly

Being complete rather than absolutist about this, because a claim of total invisibility would not be credible:

• Web server logs. Like any website, requests are logged — IP address, page, timestamp, browser string. Standard practice, and it never includes audio. If you self-host this, you control retention.
• Analytics, if enabled. Aggregate page-visit data. This build ships with none, and if analytics is added it should be a privacy-respecting tool and disclosed here.
• Fonts and code are self-hosted from this domain, so loading a page does not tell a third party you visited.

What you are responsible for

Once you press Download, the file is on your device and its security is yours. Nothing here can protect a recording after it leaves the browser — how it is stored, backed up or shared is entirely your decision.

Recording other people is also your responsibility. Consent requirements vary by jurisdiction and are sometimes strict. Tell people, and check the rules that apply where you are.

Your rights over that data

Where the UK GDPR, EU GDPR or a similar regime applies, you have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. The only personal data we hold is what appears in server logs, plus anything you choose to put in an email to us.

To exercise any of these, email contact@audio-recorder-voice.com. Be aware that server logs are identified by IP address and nothing else, so we may be unable to link a request to a specific log entry — which is a consequence of collecting so little, not an evasion. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we have no financial incentive programmes. There is no "Do Not Sell" mechanism because there is nothing to opt out of.

Legal basis and retention

Children

This site is not directed at children and we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. Material changes — particularly anything that starts collecting data that is not collected today — will be stated plainly here before the change goes live, not after.

Why build it this way

Because the recordings people make are often ones they would not want stored anywhere — interviews with sources, dictated case notes, a practice attempt in a language they are embarrassed about, a difficult message they need to hear back before sending. A tool that keeps all of that local is more useful than one that asks to be trusted with it.
