Disclosure
We publish pages comparing our own tool with competitors. That is a conflict of interest, and you should know exactly what it is before reading them.

This page sets out every commercial interest that could affect what we publish.
The conflict, stated plainly
We make one of the products being compared. Pages such as vs Vocaroo, vs Audacity and best free online voice recorders are written by a party with an interest in one outcome. Read them with that in mind, exactly as you would a comparison published by any other vendor.
How we try to handle it honestly:
- We name cases where competitors are better. Vocaroo's shareable links are genuinely more useful for sharing. Audacity is unambiguously more capable. Apple Voice Memos records in the background, which a browser tab cannot.
- We describe our own limitations on the same pages rather than burying them — no sharing links, no recovery, no background recording, memory-bound length.
- We tell you how to verify claims yourself rather than asking you to trust us, including the Network-tab check that works on any recorder, this one included.
- We do not claim competitors are unsafe. Uploading is a legitimate design choice that buys real features. It is a trade-off, not a flaw.
This does not remove the bias. It only makes it visible.
How the site makes money
| Revenue source | Status |
|---|---|
| Advertising | None. No ad network, no sponsored placements, no ads in the recorder |
| Affiliate links | None. No link on this site earns a commission |
| Sponsored content | None. No page has been paid for or influenced by a third party |
| Paid features | None. No paid tier, no subscription, no account |
| Selling data | None, and there is none to sell — see privacy |
Running costs are low precisely because no audio is stored or processed on a server. Currently the site is funded by its operator, with no external revenue.
If this changes, this page changes first. Should we ever add advertising, affiliate links or sponsored content, it will be disclosed here and labelled clearly on the pages affected, before it goes live rather than after.
How comparison pages are researched
- Competitor features are checked against the product itself or its official documentation, not against other people's reviews.
- Where a claim concerns data handling, we describe what can be observed — whether a network request carries audio — rather than characterising a company's intentions.
- Pages carry a note in the source instructing that competitor facts be re-verified before launch and periodically after, because products change without notice.
- We do not accept payment, free accounts, review units or any other consideration in exchange for coverage.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Vocaroo, Audacity, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Mozilla or any other product named on this site. Product names and trade marks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification only.
Editorial independence
No third party reviews or approves content before publication. Nobody outside the site has ever been given the ability to change, add or remove a page.
Corrections
If a comparison is wrong or has become wrong, tell us and we will fix it. That applies equally to competitors: if you make a product we describe inaccurately, get in touch and we will correct the page.

Questions
Do you earn commission from any link on this site?
No. There are no affiliate links anywhere, and no link earns us anything. If that ever changes it will be disclosed on this page and labelled on the affected pages first.
Are your competitor comparisons trustworthy?
We make a competing product, so treat them as vendor comparisons. We name cases where competitors win and show you how to verify claims yourself, but the conflict is real and you should weigh it.
Does the site show ads?
No. There is no advertising in the recorder or anywhere else on the site.
Has anyone paid for coverage here?
No. No sponsored content, and no payment, free accounts or review units accepted in exchange for coverage.
Are you affiliated with the products you compare?
No. We have no relationship with Vocaroo, Audacity, Apple, Google, Microsoft or Mozilla. Their trade marks are used for identification only.
